New Clothes Pastor Pat Miller Greetings in The Mighty Name of Jesus. I began to think and ponder about how I am clothed in righteousness. This will always be a wonder; knowing what I once was, a wretch undone for real. Do you remember the tale by Hans Christian Andersen called,"The Emperor's New Clothes"? It was about an Emperor too concerned about his clothes. He hired two men who promised to make him the finest suit from the most beautiful cloth.(they were swindlers). They told him that the suit would be invisible to anyone too stupid or unfit to be in his position. The Emperor pretended to see theses new clothes as he did not want to appear stupid or unfit and proudly walked the streets wearing his new no clothes. Christians must be clothed in the Righteousness of God in Christ Jesus and not walk around unclothed. Some people will pretend that they understand this "righteousness" by looking at how long the dress,sleeves ,how modest the suit and tie, jewelry or none. Others will proudly wear the outrageous thinking that they are free and the other is bound.The truth of the matter is that being too concerned about what I wear and what the other is wearing is both of the flesh..The next thing is to decide that their righteousness is as "filthy rags". "Righteousness" is simply being in a right relationship with God through Jesus your Advocate. God is concerned about your heart. The clothing problem started in The Garden. Adam and his wife found that The Glory was gone and they were naked. Consequently; they sewed fig leaves to cover themselves. This did not work,did not fool God; He had to provide clothes for them. What they clothed themselves in was as filthy rags. Look at Isaiah 64:6 "But we are all as an unclean thing and all righteousnesses are as filthy rags...our iniquities, like the wind has taken us away." This is a description of the unrepentant sinner who pretends to worship God ; while deliberately practicing evil.(filthy rags).The repentant child of God must forget about the old clothes and walk in new ones and what Jesus has done as there is none righteous."...the righteousness of God ,which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe..."(Romans3:22) We have the gift of The Righteousness of God (Romans 5:17),so walk in that.You are The Righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. People are looking at your clothes spiritual and physical. Elder Joe and I know about some who attempt to see what we're doing. What they see is that we are seeking first The Kingdom of God and His Righteousness, doing what He has called us to do and being faithful in it. .There is one problem; when they are spying on you, they can't be doing what they are supposed to be doing. Allow people to spy,observe and report, they may learn how to dress for God. The Word says"...that as sin hath reigned unto death,even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life, by Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 5:21).Awake to Righteousness, put it on , wear it and help others to do the same.Jesus has come in the flesh and He still saves !
